CCR FUNDAMENTALS
CCR FUNDAMENTALS
WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?
GUE's Closed-Circuit Rebreather Fundamentals course is designed to help divers make a smooth transition from open-circuit to closed-circuit diving. The course provides a structured and supportive environment where divers can develop essential skills in rebreather management, maintenance, and operational protocols. Emphasizing safety and confidence, it challenges students to master the key aspects of rebreather diving while ensuring a solid foundation for future technical diving. The class is a prerequisite to enter more advanced GUE CCR training.
WHO IS IT FOR?
GUE’s Closed-Circuit Rebreather Fundamentals course is intended for divers that are certified as GUE Technical Fundamentals divers with 25 dives logged since GUE Technical Fundamentals class completion and 150 total logged dives who desire to learn to dive with a closed-circuit rebreather.
This course gives the divers the tools to build and enhance their closed-circuit diving abilities in preparation for technical or cave diving while using a GUE-configured CCR.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Course outcomes include, but are not limited to, a competent and comfortable CCR diver with solid personal and team skills; knowledge of rebreather preparation, function, dive operation, and how to act if experiencing failures; competence in performing a bailout to open-circuit, including ascent protocol; and the ability to plan recreational dives, including gas management, absorbent canister endurance planning, oxygen toxicity management, and minimum decompression ascents.Applicants for a GUE CCR Fundamentals program must:
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Be physically and mentally fit.
- Be a non-smoker.
- Be able to swim.
- Obtain a physician’s prior written authorization for use of prescription drugs, except for birth control, or for any medical condition that may pose a risk while diving.
- Have passed the GUE Technical Fundamentals course (include GUE Fundamentals with Technical rating under past Standards).
- Have conducted at least 150 non-training dives.
- If using a drysuit during the course, have conducted at least 25 non-training dives in a drysuit or have conducted 15 non-training dives utilizing a drysuit following completion of GUE Drysuit Primer certification.

PHOTOGRAMMETRY DIVER
Modern technology combined with skilled and competent divers is a great mix to achieve unprecedented outcomes from underwater imaging. Meticulous and proper documentation of a dive site or submerged artifacts can be rewarded by a stunning 3D modelling.
GUE’s Photogrammetry Diver course is designed to introduce divers to the skills and procedures for using underwater photogrammetry to create digital 3D models.
