CCR TECHNICAL DIVER 2

WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?

GUE’s Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 2 course is intended to develop the GUE CCR Tech 1 diver by gradually building and solidifying skills and knowledge regarding closed-circuit diving needed for deeper technical dives and longer decompression times.

The course is also designed to extend diver capacity for challenges in a comfortable learning environment by emphasizing a higher degree of physical and mental fitness and a deeper understanding of the rebreather's management, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.

WHO IS IT FOR?

GUE’s Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 2 is intended for graduates of the GUE Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 1 course who wish to further their knowledge and understanding of advanced CCR diving in more demanding environments.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Course outcomes include, but are not limited to, a competent and comfortable rebreather diver with solid personal and team skills, robust knowledge of rebreather function, underwater operation and failures, competence while performing deep bailout to open-circuit, including open-circuit ascent protocol involving gas switches, rotations, and loss of decompression gases; and the ability to plan advanced technical dive missions, including gas management, absorbent canister endurance strategies, oxygen toxicity management, and decompression strategies.

Applicants for a GUE CCR Diver Level 2 program must:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Be physically and mentally fit.
  • Be a non-smoker.
  • Be able to swim.
  • Obtain a physician’s prior written authorization for use of prescription drugs, except for birth control, or for any medical condition that may pose a risk while diving.
  • Hold a GUE Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 115 certification.
  • Have conducted at least 50 non-training CCR-T1 dives following completion of GUE Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 1 certification. At least 25 of these must have been at a depth of at least 130 ft/40 m. Dive experience must be verified through submission of a dive log to the instructor.
  • Own a GUE-approved closed-circuit rebreather.
  • If using a drysuit during the course, have conducted at least 25 non-training dives in a drysuit or have conducted 15 non-training dives utilizing a drysuit following completion of GUE Drysuit Primer certification.

The Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 2 course is normally conducted over six days. It requires a minimum of seven dive sessions and at least forty-eight hours of instruction, encompassing lectures, land drills, and at least ten hours of dive time.

WHAT'S THE NEXT ADVENTURE?

SCIENTIFIC DIVER

Project diving is a cornerstone of GUE activities and a reason why many decide to pursue scuba diving. GUE cooperates with many scientific research centers globally where archaeologists, biologists, hydrologists, and geologists benefit from the competence of GUE trained divers while conducting underwater research.

GUE’s Scientific Diver Level 1 course prepares divers to act as members of scientific diving teams using proper equipment and techniques, and to understand legal aspects and responsibilities relevant to scientific diving.

PHOTOGRAMMETRY COURSE

Modern technology combined with skilled and competent divers is a great mix to achieve unprecedented outcomes from underwater imaging. Meticulous and proper documentation of a dive site or submerged artifacts can be rewarded by a stunning 3D modelling.

GUE’s Photogrammetry Diver course is designed to introduce divers to the skills and procedures for using underwater photogrammetry to create digital 3D models.
