CCR TECHNICAL DIVER 1
CCR TECHNICAL DIVER 1
WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?
GUE's Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 1 course is designed to help divers transition from recreational closed-circuit diving to technical diving with a rebreather. This course challenges divers in a controlled and supportive environment, focusing on the essential skills needed for effective rebreather management, maintenance, and equipment protocols while executing a technical dive.
It also reinforces fundamental rebreather skills while enhancing the diver’s ability to address both open-circuit and closed-circuit failures, ensuring a solid foundation for further advanced technical diving.
WHO IS IT FOR?
GUE’s Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 1 course is intended for GUE CCR Fundamentals divers who aspire to dive beyond their current level and who have completed a minimum of 50 experience dives on the rebreather since class completion. Divers will find that this course gives them the tools to safely extend their range on the rebreather by building and enhancing their technical diving abilities.
Divers embarking on a technical path must be prepared to handle emergencies and execute dives during which they cannot make a direct ascent due to decompression obligations.
This type of diving requires increased physical fitness, as there is more equipment to handle and decompression stress is increased.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Course outcomes include, but are not limited to, cultivating, integrating, and expanding the essential skills required for safe technical diving; identifying and resolving OC and CCR problems; using the technical CCR configuration and addressing the potential failure problems associated with doing so; general decompression strategies; using helium to minimize narcosis; applying CCR and single decompression stage diving for decompression procedures; and planning technical dive missions, including gas management, absorbent canister endurance strategies, oxygen toxicity management, and decompression strategies.Applicants for a GUE CCR Technical Diver Level 1 program must:
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Be physically and mentally fit.
- Be a non-smoker.
- Be able to swim.
- Obtain a physician’s prior written authorization for use of prescription drugs, except for birth control, or for any medical condition that may pose a risk while diving.
- Hold a GUE Closed-Circuit Rebreather Fundamentals certification.
- Have conducted at least 50 non-training dives in the GUE CCR configuration following completion of GUE Closed-Circuit Rebreather Fundamentals certification. Dive experience must be verified through submission of a dive log to the instructor.
- If using a drysuit during the course, have conducted at least 25 non-training dives in a drysuit or have conducted 15 non-training dives utilizing a drysuit following completion of GUE Drysuit Primer certification.

CCR DIVER TECHNICAL DIVER LEVEL 2
The course is also designed to extend diver capacity for challenges in a comfortable learning environment by emphasizing a higher degree of physical and mental fitness and a deeper understanding of the rebreather's management, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
DIVER PROPULSION VEHICLE LEVEL 1
GUE’s Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Level 1 course is designed to introduce divers to the skills and knowledge required to safely use underwater propulsion vehicles in open water.
